Reconstruction of water supply and sewerage systems in Khirdalan city is carried out within the framework of the project "Reconstruction and expansion of water supply and sewerage systems of Khirdalan city" jointly financed by the Government of Azerbaijan and the Saudi Fund for Development. The project is designed to improve 200, 000 residents’ drinking water supply and sewerage services in Khirdalan, with perspective development up to 2035.
Work on the first stage of the project started in July 2017. The project envisages construction of two water reservoirs with a capacity of 10,000 cubic meters and a 4.5km-long transmission main with 1000 mm diameter pipes from the water tanks to the city on the Ceyranbatan-Zira transmission main to provide Khirdalan town with sustainable and quality drinking water.
It is planned to construct a 168 km distribution water network and 109 km of sewerage network in Khirdalan. Construction of water and sewage networks is underway intensively. It is planned to finish construction works on the first stage of the project in 2019. Construction of water supply and sewage networks in Khirdalan will be completed in the next phase of the project.
