7th Beirut International Water Week was held in Lebanon within April 8-10, 2019. Azerbaijani delegation led by the Chairman of “Azersu” OJSC, Member of the World Water Council Board Gorkhmaz Huseynov visited Lebanon to participate in the events organized within the Water Week.
The Beirut Water Week, held since 2008, is crucial in terms of cooperation with the Mediterranean and other countries. A number of events, including the 68th meeting of the World Water Council Board, were held during the week. Next 3-year Action Plan of the Council, final reports of the 8th World Water Forum, preparation for the 9th World Water Forum and other issues were discussed at the meeting.
Speaking at the event, chairman of “Azersu” OJSC Gorkhmaz Huseynov delivered the information about drinking water supply and sanitation services in Azerbaijan. He said “Azersu” OJSC organizes processing, transportation and sales of water, and provides wastewater treatment. At the same time, it executes designing and construction in water and sanitation. Since 2013, the Joint Stock Company, which is a member of the World Water Council, closely cooperates with this organization.
Organizational issues were also considered at the meeting. The adoption of 9 new members to the World Water Council was discussed and a positive decision was taken. Two of them - Caspian Business Management and Consulting and Ekol Engineering Services have been selected new members of the organization from Azerbaijan.
Chairman of the “Azersu” OJSC G.Huseynov met with the President of the World Water Council, Mr. Loïc Fauchon, Honorary President of the International Water Resources Association, Patrick Lavarde, Director of the National Agency for Marrakesh Drinking Water and Energy Abdelrahim El Hafidi, President of Turkish Water Institute, Ahmet Saatchi and Director of Portugal Waste Water Services Association Rui Godinho, Executive Director of the International Water Office Erick Tardieu, Korean Water Forum Manager Jiyeon June Lee and they exchanged views on issues of mutual interest during the visit.
