Recent global climate changes, decrease in precipitation and rise in temperature have led to a decrease in fresh water resources in Azerbaijan as well as in many countries. The significant decrease in water flows in trans-boundary and local rivers, the decline in the volume of water collected in the country's main reservoirs ultimately creates certain difficulties in providing irrigation water for farms and drinking water for the population. Long-term observations and forecasts for the coming years show that the dynamics of water resources decline will continue. In such conditions, it is very necessary to use fresh water resources efficiently and economically, to prevent wastage and illegal use of water.

The program "Water agenda" is broadcast every Tuesday at 17:05 (again on Thursday at 11:05) on 100 FM on the basis of the joint project of the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency and ASAN Radio. Detailed discussions related to the reasons for the reduction of fresh water resources, water shortage and the consequences it can cause, the work done in the direction of effective use of fresh water, the prevention of uncontrolled and illegal use, wastage, the requirements of the legislation in this field and other issues will be held on the air with the representatives of non-government organizations, specialists and experts, research scientists, employees of relevant institutions.
