Discussions on the work to be implemented within the drinking and waste water project in Ganja city in 2023

Within the framework of the state program on socio-economic development of the regions approved by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the implementation of the project of reconstruction of drinking and waste water infrastructures in Ganja city is being continued. Currently, construction of distribution networks and installation of meters are being carried out in the city. The work to be done within the framework of the project implementation in 2023 was discussed in detail during the event held in the Ganja City Executive Authority.

Deputy Chairman of "Azersu" OJSC Etibar Mammadov noted that reconstruction of drinking and waste water infrastructures in Ganja is in the special attention of the head of state. The work started within the framework of the "Open Utility Infrastructure Program II" project, jointly financed by the government of Azerbaijan and Germany's KfW Bank, are currently being continued at the expense of state investment and funds allocated for this purpose in the state investment program of 2023.

During the presentation of the project, the Deputy Head of department at "Azersu" OJSC Jeyhun Mammadov said that a new drainage system with a capacity of 200 liters per second was created at the Goygol water source to provide the city of Ganja with sustainable and high-quality drinking water. A water reservoir with a volume of 4000 cubic meters was built in Ganja city and a 24.3 km long transmission main was built from the source to the reservoir. At the same time, restoration and reconstruction works were carried out at the Kyzilgaya water source, 3 water reservoirs with a total capacity of 12 thousand cubic meters and 11 km of main water lines were built. Most of Ganja's drinking water needs are supplied by Shamkirchay reservoir. A water treatment plant with a capacity of 140,000 cubic meters per day was built near the reservoir and a 27.5 km Shamkirchay-Ganja transmission main was built from here to the city of Ganja.

        

 

According to the project, it is planned to create 855 km of drinking water and 813 km of waste water network in Ganja. Reconstruction of drinking and waste water networks is being carried out in stages. So far, 375 km of the drinking water network and 330 km of the waste water network have been built. According to the approved project, 16 km of drinking water and 19 km of waste water lines and collectors will be built in 2023.

According to the project, the construction of a treatment plant with a capacity of 110,000 cubic meters per day in the territory of Samukh district is planned for the purification and neutralization of waste water generated in the city of Ganja.
