“Azersu” OJSC continues to implement projects to improve the supply of drinking water to Baku and surrounding settlements. Centralized water supply systems are being established in a part of Turkan settlement of Khazar district due to the internal resources of “Azersu” OJSC.

There was no centralized drinking water network in Turkan settlement of Khazar district until 2015. The population met water needs mainly through wells or bought it by vehicles. The commissioning of the Jeyranbatan Ultrafiltration Water Treatment Complex and the Jeyranbatan-Zira transmission main, which have a large share in supply of drinking water to the Absheron Peninsula, has enabled the establishment of centralized water supply systems in a number of settlements, including Turkan.

As part of the project, a 4.2 km long transmission main was laid from the Zira reservoir to the settlement. A distribution network has been set up in a part of Turkan settlement, more than 2,000 houses have been connected to the network and meters were installed. Thus, the residents of these areas are provided with sustainable and quality drinking water. In April 2022, the establishment of a centralized drinking water network in Husu Hajiyev, Yenikend and Denizkanari streets of the settlement began.

In general, according to the new project, it is planned to create a 45 km drinking water network in Turkan settlement. The construction of the 8-kilometer section of the network was already completed. Upon the completion of the construction work, the houses will be connected to the network and meters will be installed.

At present, projects are being implemented to improve drinking water supply in Binagadi, Sabunchu, Bina and Badamdar settlements, as well as in Turkan settlement due to the internal resources of “Azersu” OJSC.
