In accordance with the state program of socio-economic development of the regions approved by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, “Azersu” OJSC continues to implement projects to improve the supply of drinking water to the population in villages and settlements. New projects have been launched in the Pudraki residential area and Baghirli village of Shamakhi region, which suffers from the drinking water scarcity.

Residents of Baghirli village had been suffering from the drinking water shortage for many years. Prior to the project, residents in the village used a spring with a sharply reduced productivity and had to transport water by trucks over long distances.

In 2019, in accordance with the state program, a transmission main and intra-village distribution network from the Oguz-Gabala-Baku water pipeline were established in Baghirli village, where water supply is weak, and public springs were installed at various points. As a result of illegal connections to these springs by the population, serious water losses occurred and there were problems with water supply to some areas of the village. Taking this into account, a project was developed to create a centralized network in the village and its implementation was started at the expense of the Society's internal resources.

Currently, the construction of water lines and meters to every house in the village is under completion. Upon completion, each household will be coded, accurate water records will be kept and citizens will pay for the water they use. It is planned to establish a centralized drinking water network in other villages adjacent to Baghirli village of Shamakhi region.

At the same time, a new pumping station was installed in the reservoir area and a 1 km long distribution line was built to provide a stable drinking water supply to Pudraki residential area of Shamakhi. As a result of this work, the water supply of 150 existing subscribers in the residential area has been significantly improved. In addition, a project has been developed for the centralized water supply of more than 100 newly built individual houses in the development zone of the area and will be implemented in the near future.
