Drinking water supply of Narimanov village and IDP settlement of Saatli region is being improved

In accordance with the state program of socio-economic development of the regions approved by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, “Azersu” OJSC is implementing a new project to improve water supply to settlements suffering from drinking water shortage in Saatli region. The project is designed to provide sustainable and high-quality drinking water to Narimanov village and the IDP settlement near the village.

Due to the lack of drinking water supply systems in Narimanov village of Saatli region, residents have been using water from irrigation canals and ditches separated from the Araz River for many years. In the IDP settlement near the village, although there was a centralized network, drinking water was taken from the Araz River, treated  and supplied to residents. Due to the drought in the summer months, there were serious problems with water supply to the village and settlement.

To provide Narimanov village and IDP settlement with 101 families with quality drinking water, a new project is being implemented at the expense of internal resources of “Azersu” OJSC. According to the project, drinking water supply to the settlements will be provided by the Saatli-Sabirabad group water pipeline at the expense of the Kura Water Treatment Plant. For this purpose, a 5 km long transmission main was laid to Narimanov village from the central reservoir situated in Saatli. Currently, the construction of a 5.5 km long distribution network is underway in the village. It is planned to install 17 springs for public use in Narimanov village. Outlet from the newly laid transmission main was gaven to the IDP settlement and a 1 km long connecting line was built.

The construction is expected to be completed soon. In general, this project will provide access to quality drinking water for about 2,000 residents. It should be noted that, along with Saatli and Sabirabad cities, water is supplied from Saatli-Sabirabad group water pipeline to about 30 villages along the route of the transmission main.
