Illegal use of drinking water was revealed in Absheron region

In accordance with the "Action Plan for 2020-2022 to ensure the efficient use of water resources" approved by President Ilham Aliyev, control measures are being taken to prevent water losses and waste. To investigate cases of illegal use of water, cases of unregistered and off-meter lines of drinking water were revealed in Absheron region as a result of the investigation of special groups established by “Azersu” OJSC.

During the investigation, it was found out that in the part of the Shollar-Baku water pipeline passing through Ashagi Guzdek settlement of Absheron region, drinking water taken from the main line by illegal connection was used to irrigate the fields.

Despite the technical condition and meter of the cafe operating in the settlement, the owner of the facility wilfully connected to the transmission main. The owner of another facility, in addition to laying a hidden water line from the main pipeline, canceled the meter installed to measure the volume of water used in a self- willed mood.

Water was supplied to the car wash facility located on Alaga Vahid Street in Masazir settlement through an illegal connection from the owner's house. The investigation revealed that the entrepreneur used drinking water without obtaining technical specifications and installing meters.

During the control measures, it was found out that some residents of new settlements Masazir, Saray, Gobu used water without registration. Necessary measures were taken on each revealed fact, unauthorized lines and connections were eliminated, damage caused by illegal use was calculated.

We once again call on citizens and entrepreneurs to refrain from such actions, and state that measures will be taken to prevent such violations, the unwarranted lines will be eliminated, and law enforcement agencies will be contacted about those who repeat such acts.

It should be noted that in January-June 2021, 9110 facts of illegal use of water were revealed in “Azersu” OJSC, and 1025 in Absheron region. According to these cases, consumption was restored in the amount of 2 million 441 thousand cubic meters for “Azersu” OJSC and 283 thousand cubic meters for Absheron region.
