Illegal use of drinking water was revealed in Khazar district

Control measures are being taken to prevent water losses and waste, in accordance with the “Action Plan for 2020-2022 to ensure the efficient use of water resources” approved by President Ilham Aliyev. As a result of the special groups’ investigation established by “Azersu” OJSC to investigate cases of illegal use of water, cases of unregistered and off- meter use of drinking water in Khazar district were revealed.

The investigation revealed that illegal use of water was mainly found in country houses and residential areas. During the control measures, it was revealed that water meters in some yards were out of order, and in some yards the installed meters were not in place.

In 2012- 2014, a centralized water supply network was established in a part of the Turkan settlement of Khazar district within the framework of the State Investment Project, houses and facilities were connected to the project area, and meters were installed. Despite all these, some citizens and entrepreneurs had illegally used water through unauthorized connections to the distribution network in an off- meter mode. While inspecting the water supply system of the greenhouse in the settlement, it was found out that the entrepreneur made an additional connection to the distribution network with a 32 mm diameter pipe.

Necessary measures were taken in connection with the revealed facts, unauthorized lines and connections were eliminated, damage caused by illegal use was calculated and directed to compensation.

It should b noted that in January- May 2021, 7682 facts of illegal use of water were reevealed by “Azersu” OJSC and 902 in Khazar district. According to these cases, consumption was restored in the amount of 2 million 55 thousand cubic meters, and in Khazar district- 217 thousand cubic meters.
