The Deputy Chairman of “Azersu” OJSC delivered a speech at the UN session

The UN General Assembly organized a meeting on "Implementation of the Goals and Objectives of the Sustainable Development Agenda 2030 in relation to water". The event was attended by heads of state and governments, ministers, representatives of international organizations and experts from 86 countries. Some participants joined the meeting online. The meeting heard reports and discussions on the global water problem and perspective goals.

It was noted that the global climate change observed in recent years has a direct impact on the reduction of freshwater resources, which in turn has a direct impact on food security and environmental security. They stressed the importance of research and practical work to increase water resources, reuse treated water.

Speaking at the conference on behalf of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Deputy Chairman of “Azersu” Seymur Seyidov informed about the work done in the water resources and drinking water supply sector of the country. Deputy Chairman emphasized that the Commission was established to ensure the efficient use of water resources, improve water management and coordinate activities in this area, and approved the Action Plan for 2020-2022 to ensure the efficient use of water resources. It was noted that new sources of drinking water were created in the regions of the country, and drinking water projects were implemented in cities and villages.

Noting that the restoration of infrastructure has begun in the liberated areas, Seyidov drew to attention that special attention will be paid to the application of advanced technologies in projects to create new drinking water infrastructure.
