Construction of a new sewer collector has begun in Saray settlement of Absheron region

“Azersu” OJCS has launched a new project to improve the use of wastewater disposal services in Saray settlement of Absheron region. A new sewer collector built in the so-called “Yenı yashayish Massivi” of Saray settlement will ensure the management of wastewater generated here in accordance with environmental requirements.

The project covers a large area, starting from the vicinity of the Baku-Sumgayit highway, passing through Saray settlement to the city of Sumgayit. Due to the lack of centralized sewerage systems in the “Yeni Yashayish Massivi” of Saray settlement the discharge of wastewater create problems here. The population discharges wastewater to septic wells or to nearby reservoirs through individual lines drawn not complying with construction norms. “Azersu” OJSC has developed a project to ensure the centralized collection and disposal of wastewater generated here and construction work began in January this year.

According to the project, a 13-kilometer-long sewer line with 200-800 mm diameter pipes will be laid in the settlement. To ensure the discharge of wastewater to the collector, observation wells will be built at 250 points along the collector route and connections will be provided to the houses. It is also planned to build a sewage pumping station with a capacity of 4,800 cubic meters per day and a 1 km long pressure line to ensure the transfer of wastewater to the collector from lower the part of the new residential area in terms of relief. To speed up the implementation of the project, construction work is currently being carried out at 5 points at the same time. The construction of the collector is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2021.

The new collector will be connected to the existing 1000 mm diameter sewer in Sumgayit. The wastewater will be directed to the Sumgayit wastewater treatment plant through this collector and will be treated and disposed of there.
