The drinking water projects are being implemented in the villages of Tovuz and Gadabay districts

In accordance with the state program on socio-economic development of the regions approved by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, projects are being implemented to improve the supply of drinking water to the population in villages and settlements. Drinking water projects are being implemented in Duz Jirdakhan, Jalilli and Donuk Girigli villages of Tovuz region and Tarsyer village of Gadabay region due to the internal resources of Azersu OJSC.

The project to improve the drinking water supply of Tarsier village of Gadabay region had already been completed. As Tarsyer village is located close to the villages of Tovuz region, the water supply of the village is carried out from Zayamchay-Tovuz water line. For this purpose, a 3 km water line was laid from the main pipeline to the village. As the water line to Tarsyer village passes through Donuk Girigli village of Tovuz region, it was decided to supply water to that village as well. Within the project, a 2 km distribution network was established in the villages and springs were installed for public use. As a result of the project, residents of Tarsyer and Donuk Girigli villages had got access to quality drinking water.

Duz Jirdakhan and Jalilli villages of Tovuz region will be supplied with drinking water from the network of Tovuz city. For this purpose, it is planned to install a 3.7 km long transmission main from Duz Jirdakhan village to Jalilli village, as well as 2 km distribution water lines in the villages and 16 springs for public use. Currently, the construction of the transmission main is underway. The project will solve the problem of drinking water in Duz Jirdakhan and Jalilli villages.

It should be noted that the residents of these villages used the water of the Tovuz and Zayam rivers for many years, and due to the drought observed in recent years, residents were forced to carry drinking water over long distances.

Improving drinking water supply of IDP settlement in Narimankend and Musali villages of Saatli, Kochasgar village of Agstafa region, IDP settlement of Lachin region in Agjabadi and related projects in Sundu village of Gobustan region due to internal resources of “Azersu” OJSC had been implemented during the past period of 2020. Some of the projects implemented in the settlements will be completed by the end of this year, and some by the beginning of next year.

This year, new water supply systems have been established in Takhtakorpu village of Shabran region, Sadan and Eynibulag villages of Siyazan region, Hajigadirli village of Shamakhi region, Piran village of Lerik region, Qamishoba and Balashahagaj villages of Astara region within the state investment program.
