A new water reservoir is being built in Gobu settlement

In accordance with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev’s instructions on improving the drinking water supply in the villages and settlements around Baku, "Azersu" OJSC is implementing new projects. To ensure the stability of the drinking water supply of Gobu settlement and surrounding residential areas of Absheron region, as well as Gobu Park IDP camp the construction of new reservoirs is under completion.

Although a drinking water network was established in a large part of Gobu settlement, there were difficulties in regulating the water supply to the settlement due to the lack of a distribution reservoir. Taking into account these, the construction of 4 reservoirs with a total capacity of 10,000 cubic meters in a high area in terms of relief of Gobu settlement is designed. At the initial stage, two tanks with a capacity of 2,500 cubic meters each were built. At present, these tanks are being finalized. At the next stage, it is planned to build two more reservoirs with a total capacity of 5,000 cubic meters.

    

The newly built reservoirs will be fed by a 280 mm diameter line separated from the Oguz-Gabala-Baku transmission main. Due to the high water pressure on this line, regulating tanks with a capacity of 50 cubic meters each were built on the transmission main feeding the Gobu Park residential area, where IDPs live. The newly established water supply systems will ensure the stability of the population's drinking water supply by providing stable hydraulic regimes in the distribution water networks of Gobu settlement and Gobu Park residential complex.

It should be noted that, to improve the drinking water supply of Gobu Park residential complex in May of the current year, 5.4 km long transmission main was laid with 225 mm diameter pipes and connected to the reservoirs of the residential complex. Thus, along with the Kura-Baku transmission main, the Oguz-Gabala-Baku water line provided the complex with drinking water.
